Our deodorant is packaged in a jar, which isn’t the same as conventional deodorant. Additionally, our deodorant is a creamy paste formulation that you apply with your fingers, which is something you might not be used to.
To apply: scoop a pea sized amount onto clean* fingertips and apply evenly onto both pits. Reapply throughout the day when needed, or after intense exercise.
* It is super important to wash your hands before digging into your deodorant, as you do not want to introduce bacteria into your deodorant jar. It should remain clean, to ensure your product is effective and keeps you feeling fresh.
Our ingredients are sourced from a local Canadian premier supplier of all things related to bath and skin care products. They are proud to be a reliable source for natural ingredients and share the same philosophy as Clathryn; that we must be more aware of what we are putting on our body.
Yes. We only use plant based ingredients in our natural deodorant, therefore it is vegan. Other brands use beeswax in their formulation, but we do not.
Once open, they are best used within 12 months. This can be compromised if you do not use clean hands to scoop your deodorant, as you may introduce bacteria into your jar. Unopened, they have a shelf life of 2 years.
If the rash is painful, itchy or burning, please discontinue use for now and contact us. There is a small chance that some people may have a reaction with the sodium bicarbonate in our deodorant. We are working toward creating a bicarb-free formulation to cater to these people.
Another tip to avoid irritation is to ensure you wash your armpits regularly and don’t layer on our deodorant for days without showering/freshening up.
It is recommended that you not apply our deodorant immediately after shaving, as the skin may have been broken and be more sensitive.
This is a deodorant and not an antiperspirant, therefore you may still experience sweating. Aluminum is the active ingredient in unnatural antiperspirants to decrease sweating, however it does this by physically blocking the pores in your pits. If you have been using these products for a long time, the buildup of aluminum can take a while to leave your system.
During the first 2 weeks (approximately, everyone is unique) of using Clathryn, you may find that the natural deodorant isn’t so effective. You may sweat more than normal and have to apply more Clathryn to combat the bacteria that cause odor. But once you get past the detox phase you will get to experience the full protection that Clathryn’s natural deodorant paste will offer.
Please give it 2 weeks before commenting on its effectiveness. As this natural deodorant production is a science experiment for me, I’d love to hear about your experience switching from an antiperspirant to our natural deodorant, and if you noticed any of the effects mentioned above.

Antiperspirants and deodorant containing aluminum were created to try and reduce the amount of sweat expelled from your armpits. They do this by physically blocking glands in our armpits, called apocrine glands. Daily application of antiperspirants causes a systemic buildup of aluminum that are undergoing research for their negative health effects, including it’s cancer-inducing properties.
Antiperspirants do their job for the short term, but usually don’t even work that well. I don’t know about you, but back when I used to use antiperspirants, no amount of product could make me stop sweating during a workout or a nerve-racking school presentation.
So if they aren’t even that effective, why are we continually pumping our body with a chemical that will only do us harm?
Instead, Clathryn’s natural deodorant paste actually targets the route cause of body odor and creates an environment inhabitable to the bacteria that feed off our sweat. Sweating is natural. It’s the body’s way of maintaining homeostasis and regulating body temperature to remain at 37 degrees throughout all conditions. Let your body perform it’s job, and you’ll find that you actually sweat less over time when you use Clathryn.
Every time you use antiperspirants containing aluminum, the aluminum is introduced into your body and is stored in your pores long after the initial application. Because the natural detox phase usually lasts a minimum of 2 weeks, switching back and forth will cause you not to be as protected on the days you use Clathryn’s natural deodorant paste.
Once you make the switch, you won’t want to go back. Deodorant is like toothpaste, no matter how much you don’t want to buy it, you’ll always need it. Make sure to stock up so you don’t run out and are forced to use your old, unhealthy antiperspirant.
